Emergency Weather Shelter
(Also known as the 'Lunch Box')
Perched at an impressive elevation of 2,329 feet (710 meters) along the Southern Upland Way, near the iconic Radar Dome, this remarkable structure has undergone a stunning transformation. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Wanlock Visions and Dumfries & Galloway Ranger Services, it has been lovingly renovated into a cosy weather shelter.
This shelter stands as a beacon of comfort for weary walkers, offering a sanctuary from the harsh elements that can sweep across the landscape.
With its welcoming embrace, it provides a much-needed refuge, allowing adventurers to pause and seek solace amid extreme weather conditions, ensuring their journey continues with renewed strength and safety.
